 The creation of a programme of exhibitions for the foyer galleries of The Atkinson Art Gallery in Southport and the Southport Arts Centre Gallery is a significant feature of Arts Development work in the field of the visual arts. Annually generating approximately sixteen exhibitions over both venues, these shows are aimed at offering the public a taste of the variety and range of current visual art practice from, predominantly, Merseyside artists working across all media.

The Sefton Open 2006

The Sefton Open is an exhibition of contemporary multi media, two dimensional work by artists from throughout the UK. This is one of the largest, most varied and challenging exhibitions in the North West with prizes of £1750 shared between four artists. artists from the exhibition will be working in the gallery with children from local schools in workshop activities as part of the national 'Big Draw' campaign (supported by Arts Council England, North West).

 New  Visions 2

This exhibition combines work chosen from the Atkinson Gallery's permanent collection alongside a contemporary interpretation by 6th form art pupils of Formby High School.

'Performance': Photographs by Barry Jones

This Formby -based photographer specialises in capturing performance images of some of the biggest names in folk and world music. A musician and music journalist, Barry's photographs underline both a wide knowledge and commitment to his subject.

'Cambodia's Lost Souls'

The genocidal legacy of Cambodia's Khmer Rouge regime is documented in a harrowing series of images by this widely exhibited photographer, a moving and dignifies homage to the millions who suffered during these terrible years.
